Its Romanian siblings The Gemini Bros who serve up the next single on Home Breakin Records, with a fantastic remix also included from Neighbour.Bucharest based producers, remixers and DJs Ionut and Razvan are known for producing a fresh mix of acid disco, jazzy house, funk and disco on labels like Re:sound and Timewarp. Far from retro revivalism, these guys simply play ageless music.The single they offer up here, Jeraldine Affaire, is a fascinating fusion of myriad different influences there are deep house grooves laced up with lush disco chords, squiggly cosmic synth lines and trilling guitar riffs. The whole thing is luxurious and uplifting, feel good and funky. Theres very much a live and organic sounding aesthetic to the track that lends it a real sense of 70s funk authenticity and its likely to win the pair many new fans.Remixer Neighbour is the Canadian producer Matt Dauncey, one of the founders of the Home Breakin label. His reworking of the track rebuilds it from the ground up into a fatter bottomed bit of wobbly funk. The percussion is sharp edged and shiny and various trumpet stabs get caught up in the groove. Good time practitioners from Greg Wilson to Todd Terje will no doubt play this one on heavy rotation and its easy to see why.This is a tidy and tasty two tracker from Home Breakin Records that reminds us summer is just around the corner.
